The Fire police were also organized that year. Claude Young, Sr. became chief at that time.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">1958<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The fire company organized a Junior Firemen&#8217;s Organization in 1958. Fire Prevention Programs began October 1958. The fire company has agressively pursued opportunities to talk to the community regarding fire prevention to the current day. More about this will be presented later.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">1959<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">A new Mack Pumper was purchased in 1959.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"1959Mack.jpg - 49725 Bytes\" src=\"History\/1959Mack.jpg\" width=\"471\" height=\"374\" border=\"0\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Seen in this Ephrata Review picture are Chief Young, front; Assistant Chief Herbert Ehrhart, in cab; Assistant Chief Fred Nies, at pump panel; Trustee Frank Bucher, on tailboard.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">1961<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The fire company and Ladies Auxiliary purchased land from Joseph Long in 1961 and this became the Rothsville Fireman&#8217;s Memorial Park. This was the Viet Nam Conflict era and one of the fire company&#8217;s own gave his life in the war.
